Investigation Site

History of the Site

The house was built around 2000 as part of a local growth program. The site had been mainly fields before the development was started and was used as a shortcut for many of the local villagers, especially when the coal mines were open, as it was considered the quickest way to get to the mines from the village by foot. There have been no reported deaths on the site of the house

Paranormal Activity Eyewitness Reports

The woman, who is living in the house, has been the only owner of the building. She has reported a considerable amount of activity since she and her family had moved in. During the past few years there have been a number of sightings of apparitions, as well as Victorian music being played. She has seen what appears to be her grand father on a number of occasions, as well as a group of young boys walking, dressed in Victorian clothing. Several times there has been music playing in the house that sounds from a Victorian era, and has been heard by other visitors too. On another occasion, her wind chimes started to move on their own erratically as well as a coat hanger that was hung on a wardrobe door. The woman has also said that she was awoken by the feeling of a small animal (like a cat) walking across her bed, but that she has not owned a pet for a while (even though she has the ashes of her last pet stored on top of her wardrobe!!), but when she sat up, all the movement stopped.The most interesting aspect of all this is that all the activity has taken place upstairs. There has never been a report of any abnormalities on the lower ground….The owner has not found the paranormal activity really nerving, but would like to know if there is anything that can be found as a source.

Investigation Report

During the 4 years that we have been conducting investigations (including time with our other team) we have never been asked to visit a standard everyday house, especially a newly developed one. On the 5th may 07 the “SGPIT” were invited to a house in an area that is very local to the team, and in fact a house that would be considered an everyday sight.

The owner had told us of the paranormal activity occurring in the house before we were planned to arrive, giving us the opportunity to plan what investigation methods we were going to perform. The investigation team arrived at around 11pm, and planned to perform the investigation for several hours.

We first wanted to give a chance for the house to settle before we started probing for abnormalities, so we all entered the living room (including the owner) and made light conversation. This lasted for about 30 minutes and did not include any conversation on haunting. Sandra and Pete then performed the standard base line tests of checking the temperatures in various locations around the house, as well as using the EMFS. The results are listed below:

With this completed, we then started the investigation. As the main hive of activity had occurred in the owner’s bedroom, we setup some of the motion detectors either side of the bedroom door. The team then went to their positions: Gill and the owner situated themselves on the bed in the owner’s room
Sue and Pete sat on the floor in the same bedroom
Sandra positioned herself on the landing
Marlene was situated near the top of stairs

For the first hour, all members of the investigation sat in silence. During this time Marlene, Gill and Sue used video cameras in the hope of capturing either orbs or other apparitions. They found that there was no activity to report

The second part of the investigation saw the team then all congregate in the bedroom. Sandra, Gill and Sue performed the “Glass Test” by placing a glass on the bedroom floor (laminated) and placing a single finger each on the top. They then asked a few questions out load in the room, and waited to see if there would be and response either in the room, or through the glass. Again after 40minutes, it seemed that they were not in luck of any activity.

Before starting the next phase of the investigation, the team again checked the temperature and EMFS readings in the base line locations, but found that there had been no real change to either reading.

The team then returned to their original positions and started filming again. Gill then started to call out within the bedroom, and this is when there was a slight increase in activity. When Gill initially asked if the spirits could move the wind chimes in the window, Marlene was able to catch an orb coming from them on the camera. Gill then asked for the group of young boys that had been seen to come forward. This again produced another orb that was caught by another camera. Because of this change, we decided to continue asking questions, and this was when the name Percy came to one of the team. This was the name of the owner’s Granddad. Upon asking more questions around this figure, Marlene persistently kept hearing the name Harold in her head. This was the name of Percy’s brother

The team also started to hear low noises coming from one corner of the bedroom, and found that the EMFS reading had increased in that area, as well as the temperature

The team continued to ask questions, but found that there was no more activity.

At 03:00, the team brought the investigation to a close. They completed the final round of temperature and EMFS checks, but found that all remained normal. They thanked the owner for giving them the opportunity to perform the investigation

Conclusion

Due to the lack of activity during the night, we were unable to conclude that there is any real paranormal activity in the house, but are planning to revisit at a later date to complete another investigation.
