WHITE HORSE – Mar 2008
Investigation Site
White Horse Public House
Hambrook
Bristol
History of the Site
The White Horse public house was built around the 1700's and is located at the bottom of Hambrook Hill. The old malt house is situated next to the structure. The public house was a regular stop for many people travelling through the area heading towards either London or Gloucester, as it was built upon the 'Old Gloucester Road'. Through time, it has seen many changes to the area, and now stands in the shadows of the M4 motorway.

Paranormal Activity Eyewitness Reports
With most buildings that have been standing for many years, there is always a high amount of unexplained instances, and this is no different with the White Horse. Many people have reported bottles and glasses falling from the shelves.
One of the most strangest reports, was when the landlord came down one morning and found that all the tables had been cleaned, polish and all neatly laid out (I am sure that he would have loved this to continue!!). There was a report of the bar gas being turned off without anyone entering the cellar, and staff have reported hearing strange noises coming from the kitchen and bar area.
Investigation Report
As the team arrived at the White Horse at 11.30, they were met by the Landlord and Landlady (Les and Maxine). The team then were given a tour of the pub including the cellars. Whilst the team were in the cellars as part of the tour, some of them experienced a feeling of complete happiness and contentment, and were very interested to find out the source of this feeling.
The team returned to the bar area and due to a number of factors decided not to perform the base line tests. Pete set up the motion camera in the dinning room, and Sue set up one of the 'Lock Off' camera's facing the bar. The other 'Lock Off' camera was setup in the cellar as these were the 3 locations which seemed to have had the most amount of activity reported. Once the equipment was all setup and working fine, the team made their way back down into the cellar.
On the evening of the investigation the weather was unpleasant with heavy rain, and this increased the cold damp feeling of the cellar. With the lights off, it did not take long before Gill expressed a concern of an unpleasant feeling and started to get a little uncomfortable. The team then started to request any of the energies to come forward and make their presence known. Sandra said that she had felt a cold breeze by the side of her face, as if someone was breathing on her. Marlene and Pete also reported feeling a light cold breeze around them, and then Marlene said that she felt something touch the side of her head as if someone was gently pushing it. Sue said that the name of Henry kept coming to her mind as if he was in the room, so she called out and as a response, the room suddenly went really cold and the team all shared the sensation of being watched.
Once they had returned to the warmth of the bar, Pete checked the motion camera and found that there had been some recordings that would need investigating. This excited the team as they were curious as to what had set it off.
The team sat around a table in the bar area and performed a seance. Marlene started to pick up the name Jeremiah, and at the same time Gill noticed an orb float past the front of her camera, so the team concentrated on contacting this person again, but unfortunately nothing else happened. A short time later, Gill said that she felt the sensation of something touching her hair, and that it felt like fingers gently massaging it.
It was clear that the spirits were in no mood for communicating tonight so the team called an end to the seance. As the night went on, Sandra caught some little bright lights on her camera as well as a hew small orb like images. She was not sure if this was just dust as due to the age of the pub, there was a bit of it around, but this would give the team more to investigate later.
Gill started to perform an experiment using the dowsing rods and started to call out to the room hoping for the spirits to force the rods to cross. After a little while, Gill found that the rods were crossing, which confirmed to the team that there was definitely a paranormal presence - but not very talkative ones!!
The team started to review some of the photos they had taken on the digital camera, and found that there was not a great deal of orbs or light anomalies coming from within the pub, but were very surprised to see that on a picture of the exterior of the Malt house, they could see a large orb. The team closed the investigation at around 4am
Conclusion
With the age and location of the building, the team had high hopes for some interesting paranormal activity, but it seemed that the spirits were not in the mood for communication that night.
The cellar seemed to have provided the most excitement and really spooked the team whilst they had been down there, even though they have investigated other cellars before. The "Lock off" camera that had been located in the cellar failed to pick up anything.
A few light anomalies and orbs were captured in the bar area using the camera's but the "lock off" camera failed to detect anything here too. The motion camera had collected a massive 109 captures that the team have to review and investigate what was triggering it off.
The names that were being picked up during the investigation are being investigated to see if there is any relationship with the Public house, but the current land lord could not help.
The team thoroughly enjoyed their time at the White Horse Public house, regardless of the lack of activity and hope to re-investigate in the future with more positive results.
***We would like to thank Less and Maxine for letting us stay and perform the investigation at their lovely pub.***
