History of the Site
The Llancaiach Fawr Manor is a splendid tudor, semi-fortified Manor, and was believed to have been built in 1530 on the same site as many early medieval dwellings.
It was originally built for the Pritchard family. One member was Colonel Edward Pritchard and his family, who lived in the Manor and was also responsible for completely redecorating the Manor in 1645.
In 1953 the Manor became the property of the Williams family. They lived as a family in the Manor right up until 1979, when it was then sold to Rhymney Valley District Council. The District council decided to implement a full restoration of the Manor and returned it to its original glory for the general public to enjoy.

Paranormal Activity Eyewitness Reports
The Manor has been the host to many sightings over the years, but there are several that seem to reoccur.
A servant called Martha or Mattie has been seen many times around the Manor, as well as people hearing the sound of two boys playing on the the stairs.
In Colonel Pritchard's room, many women have found that they get the feeling of being sick, even though they were fine before and after.
Another common occurrence is the sound of footsteps being heard walking across the great hall.
We had the opportunity to talk to 1 witness who told us about the experiences he had encountered. He explained that he was once out in the garden and when he turned around, he found a man in black clothing standing near to him, but when he spoke the the figure he found that it just vanished. He also went on to say that another time he was going up the stairs and saw a lady in a green dress sat in a chair looking out of the window. He explained that he watched as she then got up and again vanished, as well as the chair she had been sitting in.
Investigation Report
As you can tell from the paranormal activities detailed above, the Manor attracts a large number of investigators, and in fact this is a second visit for 4 members of the team, and we were hoping for a great night of spiritual inteference.
When the team arrived at the Llancaiach Fawr Manor, We were instantly met by Ian and Graham who were going to be guiding us around the location.
As the majority of the team had been to the Manor previously, we already had a great idea of the locations that we wanted to study. So we got started straight away and performed the standard baseline tests of checking the temperatures in various locations around the Manor, as well as using the EMFS. The results are listed below:
Kitchen
TEMP: 18.5 degrees
EMFS: Normal
Stairway
TEMP: 18.6 degrees
EMFS: Normal
Great Hall
TEMP: 21 degrees
EMFS: Reading lower than Normal
Lounge
TEMP: 21.6 degrees
EMFS: Normal
Gents Bedroom
TEMP: 20.9 degrees
Childs Bedroom
TEMP: varying between 20.4 and 22 degrees
EMFS: low
Ladies Bedroom
TEMP: 19.9 degrees
EMFS: Normal
Guest Bedroom
TEMP: 19.1 degrees
EMFS: Normal
Armoury Room
TEMP: 17.3
EMFS: low
Cellar
TEMP: 13.5 degrees
EMFS: High, but various electronic equipment on in room
All the readings had been completed by around 8.30pm. We setup the motion detectors around the first floor stairwell.
As there were so many different areas to investigate, we decided to split up and investigate 2 areas at the same time. Sue, Gill and Sandra made their way to the Ladies Bedroom, and Pete and Marlene went to the Great hall.
Due to the early start of the investigation, we found that it was still light outside. Both teams were asking for any spirits to join us, but found that there where no responses in either location.
Pete and Marlene decided to make their way to the Lounge. We sat quietly on two of the big woodend chairs and concentrated on the noises. After a short while we heard a light knocking sound. We tried to pin point where it was coming from, and discovered that it was birds on the roof of the Manor.
We made our way back and joined up with the rest of the team and headed to the Guest Bedroom. The room felt really cold, so we performed another temperature reading and found that it had dropped to 16.5 degrees. We also found that there was a low EMFS reading near the window. Gill and Sandra said that they had seen orbs on their video camera's, so we called out hoping that something else would happen, but after staying there for another half hour, we moved onto another room.
We went to the Childrens bedroom where a boy was said to have died, and that there has been apparitions seen of a blonde haired boy within the room. Marlene came out with the name of Thomas when she entered the room. Everyone said how they felt happy in this room, as opposed to the Guest room, where it felt cold and eerie.
After taking a break, we headed for the Armoury Room. Again we found that the temperature had dropped, but after calling out for 45 minutes without reply, we decided to move on. It started to get dark so we were hoping for more paranormal activity. Gill sat in a dark stairway that was used to bring prisoners up to the great hall which was also used as a court room in previous centuries. Whilst she was filming from this location, she caught 2 orbs on tape coming up the stairs.
The last place we investigated was the kitchen. We felt at ease in the room, but again found no activity of any description.
Conclusion
It has to be said that the Manor is a very lovely place and just has a feeling of belonging, but unfortunately there was a real lack of paranormal activity on the night of our investigation.
The Guest bedroom seemed to have given us the most amount of activity with the drop in temperature. We also found after reviewing the pictures taken, that there were some bright lights in the Lounge, and also orbs can be seen in the ladies bedroom, so it may have been that there were spirits in the areas, but they were just not in the mood for coming forward.....
***We would like to thank Ian and Graham for yet another great night in the Manor, even if it was a quiet one!!!!
P.S. We could not have been that bad, because they have already said that we could come back!!!***
