History of the Site
The Hambrook Grove is a listed building that has been standing since the 18th Century. It is located at the top of Hambrook hill and very close to The White Horse public house (this has been one of our previous investigations(Click here to view)). The building is located in a rural area on the northern fringes of Bristol. It is set alongside the Ham Brook just to the west of the River Frome and is surrounded by the M4 and M32 Motorways and the Avon Ring Road. Hambrook, Originally a Domsday settlement, today comprises a mix of small cottages, farmsteads and larger houses mostly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The Hambrook Grove is currently being used as a hotel and is a lovely place to stay.

Paranormal Activity Eyewitness Reports
As you can imagine with most houses of this age and with such a grand appearance, it is full of a character all of its own. On a few occasions, there has been a presence felt on the stairs, and a door at the top of the stairs has been known to open and shut. The owners have called out, but there has never been anyone around. They believe it could be the ghost of Barbara (Kim's mother) as she lived in the house and would always get up around half six every morning, come down the stairs and put the kettle on for the workers that would be arriving.
In one of the rooms (which actually used to belong to Kim's mum), an ornament that is sat on top of the TV has caused some confusion as it has appeared to turn and face a different direction through the night.
Although Kim's mum passed away 3 years ago, she would ways tell them of the voices she could hear in her room on an evening, even though there was never anyone there...........
Investigation Report
All the participants for the evenings investigation arrived at around 8.30pm, and were greeted by Dawn and Kim (the owners). As the team had already carried out an investigation in this building, they decided to setup their base in the same location - the breakfast room. Dawn then took them all into the grounds to show them the old well. Marlene took a few photos of this, and found that there were several orbs floating around, but when they took another picture, they found nothing.
With the tour of the grounds over, everyone headed back inside. Richard and Dawn then took this opportunity to take the Medium on a tour of the building to see if there where any areas that seemed to stand out.
The team decided that this would be an ideal time to complete the baseline tests, checking the temperatures in various locations, as well as using the EMFS. The results are listed below:
Stairs
TEMP: 14.8 degrees
EMFS: 0
West wing
TEMP: 9.5 degrees
EMFS: moving between 2 and 5
Lounge
TEMP: 13.7 degrees
EMFS: 8 (this was high due to the amount of electrical equipment in the room)
Long Hallway
TEMP: 11.7 degrees
EMFS: between 2 and 3
3rd floor hallway
TEMP: 10.4 degrees
EMFS: between 2 and 3
The next item on the agenda was to setup some of the equipment. The team decided that they would place a "motion" camera in room 2 of the West Wing, and a second one at the top of the hallway on floor 2.
The group the re-joined the Medium to hear what had been discovered on the tour. Interestingly, the Medium was able to tell the team many things that had happened in the location, and also that matched what Kim had said after their previous visit to the Grove. Unfortunately the Medium had to leave the investigation after about an hour as she had an appointment elsewhere.
The Ghost Challengers then setup their equipment around the building, before the 2 teams went their separate ways which was a great advantage due to the size of the structure, it gave us a better opportunity to investigate more in the time we had.
The team began their investigation in a room on the 2nd floor. They decided to use the voice recorder whilst Sue asked questions to see if they were able to detect any other sounds. They noticed that the room did feel pretty cold, but put this down to the fact that it was empty. After a while, there seemed to be nothing happening so the team moved to another room on the same floor and tried again. This room was surprisingly warm compared to the previous one, but again there did not seem to be any paranormal activity.
Both the teams returned to the base room and started to share their findings. The Ghost Challengers told about one of their team had felt like they had been pushed on the back of the leg. They also went on to say that they had setup a "Lock off" camera on one of the floors, and then showed everyone some of the footage. Whilst they were all watching, an orb that could be clearly seen went across the screen. After all this, the team decided that they would go to this area and see if there was anything else to investigate.
They were joined by a member of the Ghost Challengers for this part of the investigation. Marlene and the guest went into one of the bedrooms and sat on the bed, whilst Sandra asked out for anyone to make contact. Both of the ladies on the bed said that they had felt it move, and Sandra believed she heard a light tapping noise coming from the wardrobe next to her. With this activity, Sandra asked out again, and the light tapping returned. Sue also captured a light anomie on the camera whilst taking pictures of the room that seemed to confirm that there was something paranormal occurring.
The team then went over to the West Wing were they decided to perform a seance. Marlene went to the room next door whilst the rest of the team carried on. Whilst she was in there Marlene believed that the temperature of the room went down, and she had the sensation of 2 fingers touching her neck. With this, she ran from the room and told the team how this had scared the shit out of her. The rest continued with the seance, whilst Marlene filmed them. After a short while, she asked Pete if he felt OK, and he said that he was feeling very hot, even though the room was cold, and then he just started laughing. They were all a little concerned as this was not the way he would normally act. They tried talking to him, but he just continued to laugh. Very soon, the colour started to return to Pete, and at the same time everyone noticed the temperature feel more normal in the room. Pete said that he could not explain what had happened to him, but that he did not feel himself (could this have been someone trying to make contact??).
Everyone met up at the base again and they shared their findings. The Ghost Challengers were really interested to hear what had happened to Marlene and Pete. Most of the party decided to bring the investigation to a close at around 4.30, but 2 of the Ghost Challengers decided that they would continue on to see what else could be found.
Conclusion
The team played back the recording made in the first room, and were all amazed to hear a voice - When Sue had asked if anyone was there, they could clearly hear the answer "YES", and in voice that was not familiar (Hear the recording).
They have also found that the "Motion" camera's where very busy that night with one taking 37 shots, and the other taking 34, which is very similar to their last visit. They still have to review the captured images.
They have yet to catch up with the Ghost Challengers since the investigation, but are really keen to find out what they were able to capture, as well as what happened with the remaining to investigators for the rest of the night.
Both Marlene and Pete did seem to have a very interesting experience during this visit, and it really adds to the reason for returning again
***We would like to thank Dawn, Kim and their family for letting us back into the Hambrook Grove, and also to Danny and the Ghost Challengers***
